The historic Citadel Tavern, now residing in the vaulted rooms of the Commanders House, has served its famous rustic cooking for over 25 years. The Tavern’s medieval-style cuisine rekindles the Middle Ages with seven-course menus such as “Chevalier`s Night,” “Cloister Kitchen,” “Food of Love,” “Fairytale Cuisine,” and “Roast from the spit” all served as hearty dishes. Children are invited to have a “Kid’s Birthday at the Knight’s Castle,” while a “Christmas Feast” can be served for business dinners. In the evening, minstrels entertain guests with songs and ballads.
In the warmer times of year, one can settle in the beer garden under a lime tree, in the shadow of Albrecht the Bear’s monument.
Regular programs and special events as “Burn’s Supper” or “Candlelight Dinner” complement the offers of the Tavern and beer garden.
